Smart tech for aging in place helps caregivers monitor loved ones

Samsung is launching a new service to help caregivers remotely monitor and assist loved ones using smart home devices. SmartThings Family Care is a free service that uses both Samsung’s SmartThings smart home platform and Galaxy smartphones to help caregivers stay connected.

Samsung’s service leverages the smart devices in a person’s home and applies artificial intelligence to determine their daily patterns and send alerts to a caregiver if abnormalities are detected. More here: (Source)

3 myths keeping Millennials and Gen Z from homebuying

Lindsay Hardy doesn’t think she’ll ever own a home, and for the past three years, she’s been renting an apartment in the city center of Philadelphia.

Hardy, who is originally from Harrisburg, PA, is not alone in thinking homeownership is just not in the cards for her.

Although 40% of Gen Z and millennials think about buying a home at least once a week, they feel hampered by current economic conditions, according to a new poll.

Additionally, 56% percent of younger generations think they’re in a worse position to buy a home than prior generations. More here: (Source)

Millennials and Gen Z are not giving up on homeownership because they’re lazy or uninterested — they’re strapped and often misinformed. Between student loans, rising rent, and wages that haven’t kept up with inflation, they feel like the odds are stacked against them. While home improvement brands can’t deliver lower interest rates, we can deliver empathy. Every ounce of marketing compassion – be it via messaging or pricing – will engender loyalty from these stressed cohorts.

What is a Superhome? 10 must-see mansions that define the high-end trend

What exactly makes a Superhome? According to Forbes, “Superhomes measure 20,000 square feet or more, and deliver on the wants of our nation’s growing ranks of super high net worth folks.”

Surprisingly, not all of the homes with 20,000-plus square feet of space we’ve found are outrageously expensive. Highlighted here, they range in price from a mere $6.9 million to $60 million.

We’ve heard your home is your castle, but these hyper-pads take that to the literal extreme. Hey, no judgment here. Homes like these create a playpen for luxe brands; prestige which eventually trickles into the mainstream. And we’re all about that.

Speaking of prestige, Simone Biles is building her dream home with her Chicago Bear Beau, Jonathan Owens. We don’t know if it’s a Superhome, but there’s certainly room in this place for a serious floor routine.
